David DeAngelo is one of the most important names in pickup, because of five simple words:
“Attraction is not a choice.”
When DeAngelo published his seminal work, “Double Your Dating,” it reverberated around the pickup community like a thunderbolt. DeAngelo had discovered and articulated crucial, vital truths about women and dating. “Attraction is not a choice,” and the logical conclusions which flow from that simple statement have become some of the most important fundamental ideas in pickup.
“Double Your Dating,” is still one of the most important ebooks in pickup history. His discussion of the differences between attraction and affection is simply a must-read. The book outlines what was, for many years, DeAngelo’s core approach: “Cocky and Funny.” This idea is so powerful that you’ll see it used by pickup artists everywhere. Online, you’ll see it abbreviated CF, and its discussed on all the bulletin boards, and used, to varying degrees, by almost all pickup artists. This is simply put, one of the most powerful tools ever created by any pick up artist.

DeAngelo’s approach has broadened beyond it’s simple origins – Cocky and Funny is just one tool in his arsenal. And he’s produced a lot of top-notch material to help aspiring PUA’s improve their game.
David DeAngelo doesn’t teach bootcamps. Instead, what he does is research an aspect of pickup extensively, practice integrating it into his own life, and then give a seminar based on his findings. These are usually held in hotel conference rooms. Each seminar is recorded live and edited into DVD and audio guides which are then made available for customers on the Double Your Dating website.
Let there be no doubt about it: some of DeAngelo’s audio and video material has to rank as among the very best material ever produced on pickup.
His “Advanced Dating Techniques” series is truly excellent, picking up where “Double Your Dating” left off. It’s over 17 hours of lectures covering everything from kino escalation, Cocky and Funny, inner game, the psychology of pickup, and more. His “Cocky Comedy” workshop is a complete approach to integrating Cocky and Funny behavior into your personality. “Approaching Women” is a comprehensive guide to how to meet women in any sort of environment. All of those are highly recommended and will reward multiple listenings.
All of his seminars follow a similar pattern: DeAngelo will introduce his topic, ask his students to commit to working on this area of their lives, and then give several hours of lectures himself. He’ll then bring in a series of guest lecturers, who’ll each speak for an hour or so, before he summarizes things himself.
The quality is generally extremely high, and it’s abundantly clear that DeAngelo has spent countless hours researching, writing, and rehearsing his lectures. He is a very good speaker. His guest lecturers are also extremely capable and are an excellent addition to the material presented by Dangelo. For example you’ll hear the first master pickup artists Mystery talk in one of his lectures, and that can help you decide if you want to get more Mystery videos, to name one example. And some of the other guest lecturers are truly outstanding: in the advanced series (which, again, is highly recommended) he has a woman come in who teaches women about how to land men, and the information she provides is excellent albeit challenging.
And the guest speakers who are good and receive good feedback are invited back. The guys who don’t receive good feedback are not invited back, thus ensuring they always maintain a high level of guest speakers.
Lastly, it must be said that much of DeAngelo’s material is more theoretical than practical. You’ll learn a tremendous amount about attraction and the theory of pickup by watching or listening to his lectures (in my experience, I prefer the video as I find it’s a better learning method). David Dangelo’s lectures are not heavy on “routines” or “pickup lines,” and he doesn’t teach bootcamps. (Although I’ve heard great things about the experiences people who attended his lectures have had, after hours, learning from David’s various guest lecturers informally.)
This is not a criticism. In fact, sometimes it makes much of his work timeless. But if you’re a student who wants simple, “tell me what to say and when to say it,” advice, then David DeAngelo might not be the teacher for you. However, if you truly want to understand women, attraction and the underlying foundations of how to pickup women, then David Dangelo is someone who you should definitely check out.
