Ross Jeffries

Ross Jeffries is one of the biggest names in pickup. He is, after all, one of the first true pickup artists: the pickup community first started to come together on the old “alt.seduction.fast” Usenet group which was dedicated to his products back when most of us hadn’t even heard of the web.

Mystery, Style, and others all got some of their first exposure to the concept of strategizing about pickup thanks to Ross Jeffries.

That being said, Ross hasn’t always had the best reputation in the community. Speed seduction is based upon Neuro-Linguistic Programming and hypnosis, and the idea of hypnotizing a girl into being attracted to you strikes a lot of guys as icky. Many of us prefer to think about pickup as a comprehensive form of self-improvement, and don’t want to feel like we’re tricking anyone into sleeping with us. Can this more modern approach to pickup be reconciled with Ross Jeffries’ teachings?

I’m happy to report that the answer is yes.

For example, take the concept of anchoring, which Jeffries was one of the first to apply to pickup. He teaches students to anchor positive emotions to themselves, and negative ones to others. A simple practical approach to this is found in lots of pickup advice: don’t talk about negative or boring things. If a girl wants to talk about how her last boyfriend broke her heart, instead get her to talk about the thrill of meeting someone new. She’ll feel those emotions and associate with you – and voila. You’re halfway home already.

I was applying this technique before I understood its NLP basis. There’s nothing creepy about it at all. It’s just good solid game.

His core program is called “Speed Seduction” and currently in it’s third iteration. What he’s teaching isn’t so much hypnosis (which would be icky and creepy) but rather how to communicate directly to a woman’s sexual subconscious, and help her to see you as a sexual being, a potential mate, rather than as a nice guy. He focuses a lot on language and understanding how what we say sends important subconscious messages. This is really great – if complex – material, and will benefit a ton of guys.

Nicely, Jeffries doesn’t spend too much time on the theory. He gives you routines based on the theory, and enough information about them to understand how they work. This is really good stuff.

But Jeffries’ products go beyond Speed Seduction. He also has a product called “Nail Your Inner Game.” Jeffries and inner game seem like a natural match, since hypnosis is all about working with the subconscious, which is where our inner-game sticking points. He also offers products on Frame Control, and Psychic Influence (I’m curious to learn more about that one!).

Jeffries doesn’t teach conventional bootcamps, but he does do three-day weekend seminars, as well as personal, one-on-one coaching. He will go into the field with you into any environment other than a bar or a club. This kind of one-on-one coaching can be invaluable. Lastly, he offers a monthly membership into his “coaching club” where for $1 for the first month (and $97 each month thereafter) you get access to training videos and the chance to talk to him four times a month for specific, one-on-one advice.

That has the potential to be very valuable, although I’d make sure to evaluate the material fully in the $1 month, because $97/month is pretty expensive.

But overall, I found Ross Jeffries to be somebody definitely worth checking out. He’s a founding member of the community and has a lot of valuable tips to share.
